Per adorable tradition, French President Emmanuel Macron has adopted a new pup, who will now hold the esteemed title as "First Dog."

According to 。 BBC 。, Nemo is a labrador-griffon mix and almost two-years-old. He comes from the SPA animal refuge in Hermeray and cost the president around $300.。

Nemo is reportedly named after Captain Nemo, the commander of the fictional submarine Nautilus in 。 Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, as Macron is a big fan of the book. A fitting name for a dog with such an important position. 。

reports that the president and First Lady Brigitte picked Nemo up on Sunday. Nemo was previously abandoned in Tulle, in the southern Corrèze region of France, but now he has a happy home with the president's family. 。
