Celebrity culture is a weird phenomenon that Chrissy Teigen knows all too well.

The model and cook book author tweeted about the strange nature of fame in a late night conversation with followers. Her remarks seemed to be spurred by the news broke that Kim Kardashian, a friend of Teigen's, was held at gunpoint and robbed.

"Some shit just isn't funny," she wrote, regarding the jokes about Kardashian's robbery. "I see you trying, but it isn't."

Teigen went on to discuss the complicated dynamics between celebrities and the public, especially in the age of social media.

"Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets," she said, explaining that the perception of fame is different than the "weird little world" of being a celebrity is actually like.

"No one is begging you for sympathy," she told a Twitter user who asked if people should feel sorry about the millions of dollars robbed in jewelry from Kardashian. "I know the game plan is to naturally hate celebrities."

Teigen expressed that she understood the complicated dynamics, saying she would be the same if she hadn't had the opportunity "to see both sides." She also made it clear that she did not see celebrities as "special snowflakes."

"I just miss empathy, in general, for everyone," she said.

Despite the pushback she gets from Twitter users, Teigen has sparked up many conversations with followers regarding a variety of issues, from appropriation to politics.

"I don't want anyone to feel sorry for anyone," she said. "Just appreciate a solid convo on the tweeter."

"It's a miracle I'm still on here," she said, before clapping back at a user who told her to take care of her husband, John Legend, rather than respond to trolls.
