"Is it more important to protect the second amendment than to protect our own children?" asks Kim Kardashian West in an open letter on her website.
She's one of the celebrities working with Everytown for Gun Safety on National Gun Violence Awareness Day to call for stricter gun control. "There is such a disconnect between what the country needs to protect our people and the laws that are proposed and enacted," she writes.

"Right now, there are more guns owned by civilians in this country than in any other country in the world. In February of this year, President Trump actually signed a bill revoking a regulation recommended by President Obama that would have added 75,000 names of people with registered mental illnesses to a national background check database. This is Crazy!"
Kardashian West is outspoken about gun control. She tweeted her support for the Democratic sit-in protest and, of course, she takes selfies while wearing orange for the cause.
But, of course, everything became more personal when she was held up by armed robbers in Paris, which the NRA thought was good fodder for humor. Kardashian West addresses the incident in her letter and clarifies that she's not calling for a ban on guns, but calling for more restriction.
"I’m not against guns and I’m not against people owning guns," says Kardashian West. "After what happened to me in Paris, I know how important it is to be safe and to have armed security. "
Keeping kids safe should be a win for everyone.
