Pour one out for Amazon's Dash button.
The previously handy little item, which Amazon stopped selling earlier this year, just received the final nail in its laundry-detergent-ordering coffin. The company confirmed on Thursday that, as of the end of August, the buttons will no longer work.
Yup, all your precious Dash buttons will soon be completely useless — which differs from before, when they were just mostly useless.
"Amazon is constantly evaluating our product and service offerings to best serve customers," an Amazon spokesperson explained over email. "With this in mind, starting August 31, 2019, customers will no longer be able to place orders through Dash Button devices globally."
For the blissfully unaware, the Dash button allowed for one-touch ordering of an item from Amazon. Need more kitty litter? Just hit the button. Run out of toilet paper? Pound away on that thing and some will arrive on an undetermined future date.
You could even tailor the button to your, um, specific needs.
