In the wake of President Trump's comments about immigrants from "shithole" countries, reporters' gloves have come off.

At what should have been a routine photo op in which Trump signed a proclamation to honor Martin Luther King Jr., day, reporters directly asked Trump to face up to his remarks.

One reporter just straight up went there and asked, "Mr. President, are you a racist?"

On Thursday, President Trump reportedly said in a meeting while discussing immigration policy, "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?"

The comments were in response to a suggestion that the US allow in immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador, and some African countries. Trump followed up his beautiful and considered "shithole" remark with another question: why don't more people from countries like Norway come here?

Considering that the majority of Norway's citizens are white, and the countries Trump referred to as shitholes are largely populated by people of color, many considered Trump's remarks blatantly racist.

Trump penned the MLK day proclamation just the morning after news of his controversial comments broke. So reporters followed up his act of honoring a man who devoted his life to African American equality and civil rights with questions like "Mr. President, will you give an apology for the statement yesterday?"

And what was Trump's response? To promptly leave the room.
