If you've been trying -- and failing -- to use Reddit then you're not alone.

The self-proclaimed "front page of the internet" went down for many users for about an hour on Monday.

It's not clear what caused the issue, which began around 9:23 a.m. PDT, according to a report on Reddit's status page. "This incident has been resolved," the company wrote an hour later at 10:22 a.m.

But Reddit was down for much of the United States during that one-hour period, according to the website downdettector.com, which tracks website outages. Both Reddit's app and website failed to load and desktop users saw various error messages saying "all of our servers are busy right now" and "please try again in a minute."

Naturally, people were not pleased with losing access to the site, particularly on a Monday morning when the need for distraction is strong.

Still, others wondered if it just happened to be a coincidence that Reddit went down the same morning net neutrality was officially repealed. (The company has come out as an outspoken proponent of net neutrality in the past, though there was no messaging about the legislation on its site, like it's had in the past.)

We've reached out to Reddit for more information and will update when we hear back.
